Mrs Heather and Mr James Brennan were introduced to me by my sponsor and friend, Hussain Al Fardan, in the late nineties.

They were running an English school in Doha. It catered for pupils from Nursery to Year 8 (13 year old pupils) in two very large residential villas that were rented. Since the demand for new students and for higher levels of education, was increasing, they decided to build a purpose- built school with appropriate modern facilities to cater for 800 pupils of all levels ( 3 years to 18 years).I was committed to work on this project after they found adequate and suitable land on the outskirts of Doha.

We had many meetings and I followed the owners clear requirements and designed the buildings with the cooperation of AEB.

We prepared the final tender drawings and documents after the approval of the sketches and preliminary design phases. We were committed for the supervision as well, myself for the architectural works, AEB for the structures and services, and jointly, the progress control that we made during the weekly site meetings with the contractor.

After nearly two years the school was completed with a separate single story Nursery building, several playgrounds, a main building with managerial and administration offices, a conference hall, elementary and high school classrooms, a football pitch, large multi-purpose sports hall and a 25 metre swimming pool.

The grounds were landscaped attractively. After I had left Qatar, in the area I left for further classrooms, the owners made an extension to the building that now hosts 1000 students.

I wish to mention that the numerous meetings with Mr and Mrs Brennan were so pleasant that soon a sincere friendship formed between us, much warmer and nicer than the usual work relationship.
